The E SQUARE Physician Scribe® is an exciting innovation in documentation and clinical information management, which will revolutionize the emergency department environment and the way physician’s document. The program is designed to enhance patient care delivery and patient satisfaction by reducing the burden of documentation and returning the physician to the bedside. The program centers on the training and use of physician scribes to capture and document essential components of the patient assessment while the physician is examining the patient. This process results in more thorough documentation, increased reimbursement and decreased risk exposure. Additionally, scribes are trained to efficiently manage case related data, which enhances the quality of the work environment for all members of the emergency department team. Following intensive didactic training and clinical orientation, scribes are equipped to function as a clinical information manager and personal assistant to the physician. Research has shown that implementation of physician scribes will result in a decrease in door to doctor time, decrease in over all length of stay, increased physician and facility reimbursement and expedited patient flow through the emergency department.
